We have moved!!! YAY!!! June 27th. The house was completed approximately 7 months after demolition. We are now OPEN FOR BUSINESS (so to speak- give us warning to put the guest sheets on the bed after we go buy a guest bed)

We have broken ground (and it was by the end of Decmeber)

Before the holiday break we witnessed the grading of the land. They were able to save about 6 hardwoods on the lot. Unfortunately we didn't have a metal detector to go look for artifacts on the property.

While we were gone- they dug a big hole for our basement. Lo' and behold, they found an old septic tank. Luckily, they found that it was empty. The construction crew has progressed to pour the footers for the house and put the wall guides up for the pouring of the concrete foundation and walls this week.

By next week the frame for the house will begin to appear!

Throughout all of this we have been making decisions on finalizing our picks for the plumbing fixtures, tiles and cabinetry. We would like to make the house as "green" as possible but are finding that some of the things that we would like are not really within our budgetry means...
